MAR, 03 2017 GAME OF THRONES: SIR DAVOS ACTOR LIAM CUNNINGHAM REVEALS SEASON 7 PREMIERE MONTH Actors says HBO show will return in July. BY ALEX GILYADOV
It looks like season 7 of Game of Thrones might not premiere until July. ADVERTISEMENT
One of the show's stars, Sir Davos Seaworth actor Liam Cunningham, supposedly revealed the premiere date for the HBO series while speaking to The Independent, saying the show was supposed to come back in April like it usually does, but it's since been delayed.
“I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April," Cunningham said. "It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the final season starts again as far as I know in September.”
The July release date would be in line with the new season's delayed production. Filming for Season 7 kicked off later than usual due to weather-related reasons. Showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss wanted to film in "some grim, grey weather," even in some of the show's sunnier locations, since winter has finally come as Season 7 begins.
"So we kind of pushed everything down the line," the executive producers said last year.
Liam Cunningham recently spoke to IGN about season 7 and how it will have "a lot of characters coming together."
